The 25 Irish Mobile Game

The practice tool I built to help my students master the game between lessons

Why I Built This App

After teaching 25 Irish for several years, I kept running into the same problem: students would have breakthroughs during our sessions, but between lessons they'd struggle to find practice partners. Their families didn't play, local game nights weren't convenient, and they'd lose momentum.

I needed a way for students to practice the specific scenarios we worked on in coaching—trump selection decisions, partnership play, reading the table. Something they could use on the bus, during lunch breaks, or whenever they had 10 minutes free.

So I built this app. It's not fancy, and it doesn't try to be everything to everyone. It's simply the practice tool I wished existed when I was learning—a way to play real games, work through difficult situations, and build the pattern recognition that only comes from repetition.

What You Can Practice

Learn the Rules

Interactive tutorials walk you through every aspect of the game. You're not just reading—you're playing through actual hands with guidance at each step. By the end, you'll understand not just what to do, but why.

Play Full Games

Practice against opponents that play intelligently—no random moves. They make the same kinds of decisions real players make: when to rob, when to play trump, how to signal their partner. Start easy and work up to tournament-level play.

Master Specific Situations

This is where the app really shines. Work on trump selection until it's instinctive. Practice endgame scenarios. Focus on whatever aspect of your game needs work. These targeted exercises accelerate learning faster than random games ever could.

Track Your Progress

See your win rate improving. Identify patterns in the hands you struggle with. The app remembers your history so you can see concrete evidence of your growth—which is incredibly motivating when you're working to master a complex game.

Designed to Work With Coaching

If you're working with me through coaching sessions, the app becomes even more valuable. Here's how my students use it:

Before Sessions

Play some games and identify what's confusing you. Come to our call with specific questions about situations you encountered.

During Sessions

We can look at your game history together. I'll explain why certain plays worked or didn't, and we'll identify patterns you might not see on your own.

After Sessions

Practice the specific concepts we covered. If we worked on trump selection, you can focus on those scenarios until they become second nature.

Not working with a coach? That's fine—the app is valuable on its own. But if you're serious about rapid improvement, the combination of practice plus personalized feedback is unbeatable.

Common Questions

Do I need to buy the books or coaching to use the app?

Not at all. The app works great on its own. Many people use just the app and make excellent progress. The books and coaching accelerate learning, but they're optional.

Can I play offline?

Yes (with the full version). Download the app and all features work without internet. Perfect for commutes, flights, or anywhere you don't have reliable connectivity. Your progress syncs when you're back online.

How realistic are the practice opponents?

They play like real people—making intelligent decisions about when to rob, when to play trump, and how to manage their hand. They're not perfect (real players aren't either), but they're smart enough to give you realistic practice.

What's the difference between free and paid versions?

The free version has basic tutorials and unlimited practice games—enough to learn the rules and start playing. The paid version adds targeted practice scenarios, progress tracking, offline play, and advanced tutorials. If you're serious about improving, the full version is worth it.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled any time through the App Store or Google Play. No questions asked. Your access continues until the end of your billing period.

Is there a web version?

Not yet, but it's in development. Right now, the app is only available for iOS and Android phones and tablets. The mobile-first design makes it perfect for quick practice sessions anywhere.
